FAQ's

You've got questions.  We've got answers.  Below are some of the questions we most frequently get asked at compassion2one™.  For more information, or answers to questions not listed below, contact us.

How did you come up with your name “compassion2one™”? Our non-profit organization

compassion2one™ was founded in July of 2009. We believe there is tremendous power in the compassion of two people committed to saving one child at a time from sex slavery. It started with our founders, but everyone who contributes time, talents or treasures is partnered together to save one child at a time.

Is compassion2one™ a faith-based organization?

compassion2one™ is a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and charity. Our hope and goal is to partner with both faith-based and non-religious organizations for the sole purpose of ending child sex slavery.

Does compassion2one™ focus on securing children in safe homes or are you involved in the actual rescue as well?

We do both. With the experience and skills of our national leaders, compassion2one™ is actively involved in the actual rescuing of children from prostitution and entrapment in brothels. It takes a great deal of experience, knowledge and a close partnership with authorities to ensure that each child is safely freed and provided with care and a future home. In some cases, children can be returned to their original home parents. When that is not possible, our safe-houses are ready and willing to begin the healing process.

What is the percentage of dollars that goes directly to safe-homes and child programs?

Our costs break down as follows:

Safe homes and Child Programs = 75%
Management and General = 15%
Fundraising Cost = 10%

Our annual report will be posted August 1st, 2011.

I want to get involved but I’m not quite sure where to start. What do you suggest?

The first step is to fill out our contact form. Next, look over the Call to Action portion of our web site. Furthermore, compassion2one™ holds informational sessions on this issue in local communities, and we offer the Certified Trainer Program to teach, train, and certify volunteers on how to take action on the issue. Remember, your time, talent and treasure can rescue a child from sex trafficking … take that step!

Where does compassion2one™ get its support?

Our primary source of funding is individuals who are passionate about rescuing kids one at a time. Corporate matching funds are available from many companies and we encourage all our friends to look into that possibility. We also receive funding from faith-based organizations and small businesses that provide financial gifts and, in some cases, a percentage of revenues from special events.

How many countries are you involved in and what is your projection over the next couple of years?

We currently have rescue activities and safe-houses in Burma, the Philippines, Jamaica and Mexico. By early 2011, we will be opening operations in the U.K. We have worldwide contacts ready to come online with compassion2one™ in over 25 countries. A priority list is being developed by our Executive Team and International Field Director.

We are also very excited to be focusing on the issue Domestically as well in 2011.  We have hired an expert in the area of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking and we will be working to together and exploring the idea of opening a 24 Hour Drop In Center in the South King Country area of Seattle.

What are Awareness Nights and Founders Dinners?

Our Awareness Nights are an incredible opportunity to spotlight the need to your friends and offer real life solutions. We offer packets to get you started. One of our executives will come to your location (home or restaurant of your choosing). Awareness nights usually include a relaxed evening of dinner and drinks with a 20 minute presentation and video. Our Founders Dinners are hosted by one of our founders. These dinners usually involve 12 to 14 guests and can be semi-formal or casual. You will here the gripping story of why they launched Compassion2One and how every two minutes children are trafficked in sex slavery. This cannot be tolerated and must be stopped. We can rescue one child at a time. At both our Awareness Nights and Founders Dinners, individuals will have the opportunity to contribute time, talent and treasures.
